How much does it cost to run a Shopify store in Poland?

Upon visiting the Shopify Pricing page, we see relatively high rates; around 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction through Shopify Payments. However, these amounts do not apply in the Polish market.
What Comprises the Cost of Running a Shopify Store in Poland?
In short, this cost includes:
- Platform subscription — a fixed fee, billed monthly or annually
- Transaction handling fees for Shopify
- Payment gateway fees — dependent on the chosen gateway
- Costs of paid apps — usually billed monthly, their amount depends on the applications you integrate into your store
How much is the Shopify subscription?
The subscription fee for Shopify varies by country. For businesses in Poland, it’s a monthly expense of:
- €36 EUR - Basic Shopify
- €105 EUR - Shopify
- €384 EUR - Advanced Shopify
- $2500 USD - Shopify Plus
What is the transaction handling fee?
If you’re not using Shopify Payments (a service not available for companies registered in Poland), you’ll need to use another payment gateway — such as Przelewy24, Tpay, Stripe, or PayPal.
In such a case, Shopify adds an additional fee, which is a percentage of the order value and depends on the subscription plan:
- 2% - Basic Shopify
- 1% - Shopify
- 0.6% - Advanced Shopify
- 0.2% - Shopify Plus
For example, with Przelewy24 (with a rate of 1.5%), we will pay a total of, depending on the plan:
- Basic Shopify: 3.5%
- Shopify: 2.5%
- Advanced Shopify: 2.1%
- Shopify Plus: 1.7%
How to save up to 25% on the Shopify plan?
Consider paying for one or two years in advance. By paying for the Advanced Shopify plan for one year in advance, you can save €1140 EUR.
Which subscription to choose to get the most out of it?
The profitability thresholds depend on the payment gateway fees. For example — if we were to use Przelewy24 with a 1.5% rate:
The first profitability threshold will be a monthly turnover of around 25,000 PLN — then it will be most advantageous to switch from the Basic Shopify plan to the Shopify plan.
The next threshold will be a turnover of 240,000 PLN / month — then it will be worth changing the subscription to Advanced Shopify.
For turnovers at the level of 2,100,000 PLN / month, it will be profitable to switch to Shopify Plus.
